Akim Henderson Is Here for His Fellow Students

This isn’t the first time Akim Henderson has pursued higher education. In fact, Akim’s journey stands as a testament to the power of perseverance.

“I grew up with an absent father,” he recalls. “My mom was killed when I was 10. And, I have lived through gun violence and substance abuse.”

Genirberg Family Scholarship Established with $50,000 Gift to CCC Foundation

Thanks to Sam’s $50,000 donation, the Contra Costa College Foundation will be offering four awards of $2,500 annually to continuing students in Contra Costa College’s career education programs.

Sam hopes that his generosity will help recipients reach their next educational and professional level. He says it takes good, old-fashioned hard work to make it. But, sometimes, a little bit of financial support helps too.

Elisha Patterson Says ‘You’re Not Alone’ at CCC

“I came back to school in 2016,” she explains. “What got me to was tragedy. But, also just coming to the realization that, in order for me to be better as a person, I needed more education.”

Once she got here, Elisha loved the opportunity to believe and invest in herself.
